UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering Receives $150,000 Software Donation from Power Analytics Corporation

This just in from the Power Analytics website:

Power Analytics Corporation has made a software donation with a list price value of $150,000 to the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) — a recognized leader in electrical power and alternative energy research. The donation consists of licenses of the Company’s Paladin® DesignBase™ modeling software, used for the design, simulation and optimization of mission-critical electrical power infrastructure.

The software will be used for both research and instructional purposes, to help members of the university community study and understand what can be done to make public and private electrical power networks more reliable, resilient and energy efficient — while also making them “smarter.”

“Engineering software has become very powerful in modeling the real world,” said Jan Kleissl, a professor of environmental engineering, whose lab will be using Paladin DesignBase. “We are fortunate to have access to the best software in the power industry to simulate microgrids; it is accurate, fast and easy to use.” More
