First of a Kind Tests to Assess How Elevators, Fire Systems Perform in Earthquakes
Construction crews at the Englekirk Structural Engineering Center topped off today a five-story building, where researchers plan to test a wide range of nonstructural components, including a working elevator, sprinkler systems, ceilings, stairs and medical equipment.
Workers will now install all these components in the structure. Tests are set to take place from January through March 2012.
